Members of activist movements or other mass cultures can no longer be recognised by codes. Well-established mechanisms of interpretation and categorisation have been replaced by content. This does not make the search for a community any easier. Between fear and fearlessness, Star of Xanax deals with thestate of a generation that can no longer imagine a future on this planet. These circumstances and conditions are translated in Star of Xanax into a world into which many escape in an escapist manner: between dream and virtual reality.
Assmann, Prag and Schall send performers:in Dada JV on a journey through a sinking world in which salt and water symbolise life as cognitive dissonances. Five past twelve, Star of Xanax also calls for a paradigm shift and propagates a new understanding of body and matter. Wrapped in calming sheets of transparent fabric, they take a critical look at virtual exit strategies. The soundtrack is provided by Markus Steinkellner, who works under the pseudonym IDKLANG for dystopian genre breaks with brute bass and broken beats. The artists Natalie Assmann, Maximilian Prag and Anna Schall are designing a further development of their work Star of Xanax for the CTM, Festival for Adventurous Music and Art Berlin and the Volksbühne at Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, in collaboration with producer with producer IDKLANG and dancer DaDa JV.
